Certificates of Insurance
Need a Certificate of Insurance?
A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a one-page document showing who's insured, what's covered, and at what limits. Active MyBrokers clients can request one any time. Most go out within the same business day.
Common reasons clients need a COI
Commercial leases
Landlords routinely require proof of liability before you sign a lease or take possession. Most ask for $2M general liability and the landlord listed as additional insured.
GC and prime contractor requests
Before you set foot on a job site, the GC will ask for a COI showing your CGL limit and automobile coverage.
Client contracts and MSAs
Service businesses, especially in tech and consulting, often need to prove E&O and cyber limits before a customer will sign.
Vendor and supplier onboarding
Selling into a larger company? Their procurement team will ask for proof of liability before activating you in their system.
Event and venue rentals
Booking a hall, conference space, or pop-up venue? Most require a one-day or short-term COI with the venue named as additional insured.
Loan and lease covenants
Auto and equipment finance companies often require physical damage coverage with the lender named as loss payee.
What we need from you
To turn around a certificate same-day, send us:
- Your business name as it should appear on the COI
- The certificate holder's full legal name and address
- Required limits (e.g., $2M CGL, $5M Excess)
- Whether the holder needs to be listed as additional insured, loss payee, or both
- Any special wording the contract specifies (waiver of subrogation, primary and non-contributory, etc.)
- Effective and expiry dates if different from your policy term
If your contract has specific wording, attach the requirement page (most leases and MSAs have a section titled “Insurance”, that’s usually all we need). We’ll match it word-for-word and send the certificate to both you and the certificate holder.
Ready when you are.
Email us the details or call directly. Active clients usually have a certificate in hand within hours.
